Who we are and how we cover American soccer.
JAFA — the Journal of American Fútbol & Academies — covers soccer in the United States as one sport: the national teams, Major League Soccer, the NWSL, the Americans playing in Europe, and the college and academy pathway that feeds all of it.
The name is inherited. JAFA began as a soccer academy, and the recruiting, trials and coaching guides in the Youth & Academies section are written from that experience rather than from a newsroom.
Three editors run the site's three beats: Alejandro Rojas on MLS, transfers and the men's national team; Dana Whitfield on the NWSL and the women's game; and Marcus Bell on the youth-to-college pathway. Every byline links to an author page with that writer's background and methodology — see the full desk.
Scores, standings and transfer records on this site are taken from live league and federation feeds and are re-sorted, never invented. Where a number cannot be sourced, we say so rather than estimate it.
Transfer rumours are published only when two independent outlets carry them, and they are kept separate from the confirmed-move table on the transfer tracker.
