Ally Sentnor's leadership sparks Angel City FC's record-setting winning streak

Angel City FC secured its 10th victory of the season, a new club record, with a 3-1 win over Seattle Reign FC. This result brings Angel City within a single point of Seattle in the NWSL standings, intensifying the playoff race.

Ally Sentnor initiated the scoring with her second consecutive penalty kick in the 20th minute following a handball in the box. Ary Borges, who returned to NWSL play two weeks after childbirth, doubled the lead by heading in an Evelyn Shores corner kick before halftime.

Angel City's depth impacts late-game scoring

The team's depth proved crucial, with rookie Taylor Suarez scoring just 21 seconds after entering the game as a substitute in the 81st minute. This goal ties the record for the fastest substitute goal in NWSL history, as Just Women's Sports reported. Sofia Huerta scored for Seattle in stoppage time, but it was not enough to alter the outcome.

Interim head coach Leif Smerud praised the team's renewed competitive spirit after the match. Angel City's current four-game winning streak positions the club to control its destiny as the season approaches its final stages.

NWSL standings tighten as Angel City continues strong form

Angel City FC will aim to extend its momentum in its upcoming match against the Utah Royals on Sunday. The team's recent performance, including a key victory over San Diego Wave, suggests a strong closing push for a playoff spot.

The club previously saw Sydney Leroux return to the squad after more than 600 days sidelined. However, a serious injury to Jun Endo occurred around that time, highlighting the challenges of maintaining roster consistency.
