Inter Miami's roster moves raise questions despite recent 7-1 victory

Inter Miami has made two notable roster moves on the final day of the transfer window, with David Ruiz joining the New York Red Bulls on loan and Noah Allen also departing the club, as reported by MLS insider Tom Boger.

These decisions come shortly after the Herons secured a dominant 7-1 victory over CF Montreal, a result that appeared to reverse their recent difficult spell in Major League Soccer.

David Ruiz moves to New York Red Bulls

Midfielder David Ruiz has been loaned to the New York Red Bulls through the end of the 2026 MLS season, with the Red Bulls holding an option to buy. The Red Bulls will compensate Inter Miami with $75,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money (GAM) for the move, per an official statement from NYRB.

This transaction is understood to be a strategic decision for Inter Miami. While Ruiz has displayed potential during his time on the field, his tenure has been marked by persistent injuries that reportedly made him a liability the club could no longer sustain, according to MLS Multiplex's analysis.

Furthermore, the recent arrival of Casemiro is anticipated to further limit Ruiz's playing time in midfield, making a move for playing opportunities a logical step for the Honduran international.

Noah Allen's departure raises concerns

The decision regarding Noah Allen, however, is being viewed with greater skepticism by some observers. Details surrounding Allen's exit are less clear, but his departure on the final day of the window has been highlighted as a perplexing move for Inter Miami.

Allen's situation contrasts with Ruiz's, where clear tactical and financial reasons underpin the loan. The rationale behind Allen's exit is not as readily apparent, prompting questions about Inter Miami's long-term squad planning, particularly given the club's recent resurgence in form with the convincing win over CF Montreal.
